Energy storage
Surface layers for active materials in EV and stationary batteries, so that electrode particles stay stable inside the cell.
Particle surface modification
Veloxion engineers the surface of particles so that materials become more stable, more functional and easier to combine. For energy storage, pharmaceuticals, coatings and other high-performance materials.
What we do
Most of what a particle does, it does at its surface: how it reacts, how it ages, how it disperses, what it bonds to. Veloxion modifies that surface and tailors its characteristics to the property a material needs, while the particle underneath stays what it is.
Surfaces that resist what degrades a material: moisture, oxidation, unwanted side reactions, heat.
Surfaces that add a capability the base particle lacks: conductivity, reactivity, controlled release, wetting.
Surfaces that let a particle work with its surroundings: an electrolyte, a binder, a polymer matrix or a formulation.
Technology
We modify the surface of particles, not the particles themselves. A thin, engineered layer sets how the particle meets its environment, and with it the stability, functionality and compatibility of the material it becomes part of.
The technology originates from research at ETH Zurich and is owned by Veloxion AG. We develop it further with industrial and academic partners and make it available through development projects and licensing.
Which material, which application, and what needs to change: cycle stability, dispersion, reactivity, adhesion.
We design the surface chemistry and the layer for that target, on your particle, not on a model system.
The modified material is evaluated in your process and product, against your own reference.
Applications
The same principle serves very different industries. What changes is the particle, the environment it has to work in, and the property that counts.

Company
Veloxion AG was founded in 2025 in Landquart, in the canton of Graubünden, to develop, protect and commercialise surface modification technology for particles. The company owns the intellectual property and works with industrial and academic partners in Switzerland and abroad.
